The company, being the first in South Africa, to recycle and re-use construction waste which plays a vital role in reducing the usage of energy, reducing the requirement of land for landfills, as well as the reduction of extraction of natural resources.
The recycling and re-use of materials is beneficial since it puts material waste back into the production cycle. In other words, part of the un-used materials on site is accounted for.
We endeavor to conform to the GBCSA’s Green Star System, therefore at Stones & Stones Inc., we specialize in the crushing of stone including the processing of building and demolition rubble, which is generated through the construction processes.
With the guidance of CSIR, we are part of the International Consortium preparing a proposal for the implementation of a Collaborative Project titled Sustainable Methodologies for Low Energy recycling of construction and demolition waste in road structures (SMILE) under the coordination of the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL)
Regular tests by Civil Engineering Laboratories and the C.S.I.R. are carried out on samples of material that is processed so as to maintain and improve standards.
